Dr. Harvey Edwardsis a Tuscaloosa native who never got far from home. He earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama, and then completed both medical school and OB-GYN residency at UAB. He joined the practice in 1985. His wife, Debbie, is also from Tuscaloosa and they have three sons, one daughter and four grandchildren (and counting). The Edwards family enjoys spectator sports, participatory sports, and working together on small scale construction projects.

Dr. Stephen Allenjoined the practice in 1995. He is an Alabama native and attended Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee but returned to the state for both medical school and residency at UAB. His wife, Ann Marie, is from Jacksonville, Alabama. The Allen family stays very active with one of more of the children always involved in outdoor activities of one kind or another. Their favorites include baseball, soccer, golf, basketball and hammock swinging (not necessarily in that order).

Dr. Myron Chwejoined the practice in 1997. A native of Tuscaloosa, he attended Yale University receiving his B.S. in Applied Mathematics in 1988. He then attended medical school at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, followed by residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Chwe is an active member of the medical staff leadership at Northport Medical Center, having recently been Medical Staff President and subsequently, chairman of the Physicians’ Activity Committee for the DCH Health System. He spends his time away from work with his wife, Connie and their two children. He also enjoys a rare game of golf, cooking, and taking pictures of his kids.

Dr. Sid Smithis a native Texan. He came to Alabama for college and never left. After graduating from Samford University, he completed medical school at UAB and OBGYN residency in Mobile. He joined OBGYN of West Alabama in 2002. He and his wife Leslie have 2 sons. He is a member of First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa. Dr. Smith enjoys farming, wildlife management, and deer and waterfowl hunting.

Dr. Joanne Myersgrew up in Birmingham before attending college at Emory University. After Emory, she went on to get her Master’s degree in Public Health and her Medical Doctorate from UAB. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. She joined OB-GYN of West Alabama in August 2004. She currently resides in Tuscaloosa with her husband, Warren and their daughters.

Dr. Alicia Glass

Dr. Alicia Glass grew up in Linden, Alabama. She received both her undergraduate and Master’s degree from the University of Alabama. She attended medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. She completed her residency training at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.  She enjoys hiking, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Meredith Gray

Dr. Meredith Gray grew up in Tuscaloosa. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama. She attended medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and she then stayed at UAB to complete her OBGYN residency training. Her husband, Matthew, also grew up in Tuscaloosa, and they are excited to have settled back home with their two children. They enjoy getting outdoors with their son and daughter, cooking with family and friends, watching a good TV series, and of course, Alabama football.

Dr. Chanda Hall

Chanda Hall grew up in Killen, AL. She completed her undergrad at the University of North Alabama where she met her husband, Levi. She attended medical school at the University of Alabama Birmingham and completed residency training at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She enjoys gardening, weight training, and spending time with her family and friends. She, her husband, and son are happy to be back in the great state of Alabama. 

Nurse Practitioners

Carol Strickland, CRNPis a certified registered nurse practitioner specializing in Women’s Health, joined Ob/Gyn of West Alabama in 2009. She is a Tuscaloosa native. She graduated from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing in 1980, and UAB in 1986 with a Master of Science in Nursing. She has worked in labor and delivery, taught nursing at the University of Alabama and has been a childbirth educator at DCH for over 20 years. She and her husband, George, have 3 children who have been very active in sports and scouting.

Marla Falls, CRNPis a native of Tuscaloosa. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Samford University. She is nationally certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has over 20 years combined nursing experience in Women’s Health, Critical Care, and TSICU. Marla is married to Bob Falls and they have 2 children. She enjoys spending time at the lake, playing tennis and reading.

Rachel Jolly, CRNP

Rachel Jolly, CRNP is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She recieved her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama. She has a passion for women’s health and considers it one of the greatest honors to care for women across their lifespan. She has over a decade of experience in Women’s Health and looks forward to serving West Alabama. She and her husband stay busy raising their two sons.
